Hot Buttered Rum

A colonial favorite

  • 1 ½ cups dark Jamaica rum
  • 4 tsp. sugar
  • 2½ cups boiling water
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 Tb. butter
  • Nutmeg for topping
  1. Stir the rum and sugar together with a cinnamon stick until the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Add water and butter.
  3. Stir again.
  4. Divide between four hot glasses and dust with freshly grated nutmeg.
